A fine capture.  I can't help wondering if and how the roots of the yew interact with the vault.

This is TRULY a stunning shot, man. Simply beautiful. It is an excellent representation of the dual nature of Life and Death. The stairs guide the viewers eyes directly from the foreground of the photo and to the midground which is the doorway of the crypt. With that we are drawn into the underworld and yet...there is still more. The eye is then drawn upward by not only the shape of the doorway but the drastic difference in color coming from the background above. The tree. The Tree of Life is above it, reaching for the heavens and bursting with verdant glory. As the viewer takes this in the become wonderfully aware of the green throughout the rest of the picture. It is as if the photo itself takes one through the journey of death and rebirth, all within a single breath. I suspect that is an evergreen in the center although I can't quite remember what kind. Truly a work of art and soooo worth the Ninja-ing.

Really?  Cool.

Sounds like you had fun when you were there.

Yeah, English ones tend to be cooler than ours here in the US, for the most part.

Hey, you never know.  Maybe somedat you'll get to.

We prefer to call it, “going on a mission” (cough), but good luck if you do go, and don’t get caught! NaNoEmo 2015 - #22 Dance on Grave

This is just utterly gorgeous. It's hard to elaborate upon the emotions it brings. It's a calm in the storm, but also a place where deceased beings are sent to be put underground forever more. It's very interesting. I have to give you my appreciation for this! I love experiencing new feelings.

Also, careful not to get caught in your photography endeavors. I want to see more art show up in my notifications! :P

It’s an incredibly inspiring and emotive place, particularly at night. And the not-getting-caught bit is all part of the fun; it’s one of the reasons we call it a mission :)

Nice!  Say, wasn't Highgate in Bram Stoker's Dracula (the original novel, not the movie)?

Those scenes in the novel were set I believe at Whitby. Highgate was in some of the Hammer movies though, and it looks fantastic :)

This is beautiful! It makes me want to grab a torch and go searching for dragons! ^.^ Also your ninjaring looks like it really payed off! The perspective, especially with the layers and how it enters at the steps, makes it look like you're actually there! :) The framing is excellent as well. Really well done! I think the lighting and positioning of the giant tree with the flow to the tower marker on the right is my favorite part!

Thank you. It was shot very late at night, under a big bright moon. The long exposure gave the light and leaves time to breath, resulting that eerie, slightly fluid look :)

That's really awesome! I've been meaning to look into long exposure. It's amazing what can come out of it. (I'm personally obsessed with taking night and sky shots, though my camera isn't very good.) I actually didn't notice the small movements! I'll have to go back and check that out! Also that explain the magical lighting! It really, really came out well.
